Local Events we always like to recommend

E&J Piper Fun Day – Summer annually run in conjunction with Dymchurch Royal British Legion -Including display of Military vehicles, display of memorabilia from the 40’s & 50’s – the famous Barbara’s NAAFI wagon – serving teas, coffees, hot dogs etc! games, Raffles, Tombolas and Fun!! All proceeds go to the RBL Poppy Appeal.

Dymchurch Day Of Syn – bi-annual event held over Aug bank holiday weekend including historical re-enactments, parades, fetes, battles and live music. Next day of Syn 2014.

Hythe Venetian Fete – Bi-annual event held on the Royal Military Canal. See the floats parade along the canal during the day and by night. Fairs, music concerts and fireworks. Pay for a seat to view in comfort or simply sit with a picnic along the Canal bank. Next Venetian Fete – summer 2013.

Music at The Ocean Inn – Bands perform in the car park on August Bank Holiday weekends.

Really Good Places To Visit

Dymchurch Beach – golden sandy beaches with lots of local amenities including donkey rides, sun bed hire and shops

Dymchurch village – a variety of shops including Tesco Express, Chemist, Fish & chip shops, cafes, souvenir shops, public houses

Dymchurch Recreation Ground – Large playing fields for playing ball games situated 5 mins walk from the site. Also includes zip wire and netball/basketball court, smaller children’s play area and swings.

Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Light Railway – themed trains throughout the year including Thomas The Tank Engine Days, Easter and Santa Specials, double engine pull and race days

Port Lympne Wildlife park – special annual pass for Port Lympne & Howletts available – pay once visit all year for free. Port Lympne Music Festival in summer.

Howletts Zoo – famously created by John Aspinall. Includes Go-Ape zip wire course.

Hythe & Royal Military Canal – beautiful walks, guided tours and canal rowing boats available for hire. New motorised launch trip available.

Dungeness RSPB Reserve – Famous site of extreme importance. view many types of birds from hides across the reserve. Special event days held throughout the season including pond dipping, Easter egg trails, special interest days.

Dover Castle & White Cliffs – permanently evolving historical events held at the Castle. A must for children to see how it was to live in historical days past. WW2 bunkers and displays – feel the bombs dropping above your head! English National Heritage members go free.

Samphire Hoe – local beauty spot and major conservation site. Various activities for adults and children to enjoy including cliff walks, pond dipping, conservation tasks.

Historical towns of Rye, Hastings & Battle within easy driving distance. See history for real.

High speed Javelin train service from Ashford. How about a day out in London? Be there in 35 mins from Ashford International to St. Pancreas.

Beautiful flat countryside ideal for walks/ bike rides across Romney Marsh with family friendly pubs en route.

White Cliffs Countryside Project – local events for adults & children that include nature, conservation and fun activities such as glow-worm and bat spotting, mini bugs & beasts hunts, walks, rock pooling and many other exciting activities throughout the summer.

Littlestone Golf Club – links course open to guests. Used as a qualifying course for the British Open.

Mary’s Tea Rooms Dymchurch –by the Ship Inn – Nationally recognised quaint tea rooms that serve only home cooked foods and teas. Daily selection of home baked cakes, scones etc – no to be missed! Lunches also served.
